Counselling

Counselling is for anyone who wants to improve their life, make positive changes and have a better understanding of themselves and their relationships. Counselling supports greater clarity and insight and enables individuals who may have become ‘stuck’ to move forward in life.
There are times when we all need a bit of extra support. Family and friends may be great, but you may not want to burden them with your worries and concerns. Life can feel overwhelming and you may lack motivation, lose interest in the things that once excited you, or lose your sense of focus and direction. You may be experiencing low self-esteem, suffering from stress or anxiety or feeling weighed down by work or family issues. At times you may feel like a cork on the sea being buffeted by the elements, not fully in control of your life.
People feel drawn to counselling for a broad range of difficulties. Counselling helps you look at the issues and problems in your life and will gently guide you in resolving them. A counsellor will help you in addressing any unhealthy patterns, and support you in a caring, safe and confidential environment to overcome difficulties and barriers that are holding you back. They may discuss with you some strategies that you can apply to make changes or deepen awareness and insight.
As a counsellor I will encourage you and respect your right to make your own decisions. You chose your focus for the session. Counselling is an opportunity to express your thoughts, your feelings or pain. It can provide the space to release old emotions such as anger or resentment and to heal on a deep emotional level. Talking about your experiences in a warm and confidential environment helps to work through the concerns. I provide a safe and caring space for you to explore your feelings and emotions and will support you in identifying issues and finding the best solutions.
Counselling is an empowering process; it can help you to take more control of your life. When you feel more in control you have an increased sense of well being and open up opportunities for personal growth. The aim of counselling is to get you to a point where you can confidently move forward in all areas of your life and experience a happier and more fulfilling future.
Each session lasts about 50 - 55 minutes. Please refer to the Contact/To make an appointment page to contact me or to make an appointment.
